
Stop Waiting for the Room to Warm Up
Ever walked into a locker room or a bathroom in the middle of winter? It’s usually freezing. Even if the heat is on, those old-school convection heaters just try to warm up the air. But the air is stubborn, and half of it just leaks right out through the vents anyway. It’s a waste of time and money. We do things differently. We use shortwave infrared (IR). Instead of fighting with the air, IR goes straight for the target: you. It’s like stepping into a beam of sunlight on a spring day. You don’t have to stand around waiting for a thermostat to click or for the walls to stop feeling like ice. The second you step into the beam, you feel it.Instant warmth. Here is how we actually make that happen. We use these heavy-duty quartz heating elements. They get incredibly hot, which is what pushes the heat out in those short, fast wavelengths. To make sure these bulbs don’t burn out in a week, we use halogen-filled tubes. It keeps the filaments from evaporating, so the lamps last longer while still hitting you with that high-intensity heat the moment you flip the switch. Now, there are a few things to keep in mind when putting these in. First, water and electricity are a bad mix. We tuck everything into IP-rated housings with reflective aluminum insides. This doesn’t just keep the electronics safe; it bounces all that heat forward so none of it is wasted hitting the wall. But you have to be smart about where you put them. Shortwave IR doesn’t travel forever. If you mount the unit too high or tuck it too far back in a corner, the warmth just disappears. You’ll end up with “cold spots” where people are still shivering. You’ve got to nail the mounting height and the angle. One last thing: these units pull a lot of power. If you’re installing a bunch of them, double-check your circuitry. You don’t want the whole system tripping the breakers the moment everyone walks in and turns them on at once.
