In plain English? It means the guts of the machine are totally sealed off. Dust can’t get in, and if you hit it with a water jet from any angle, the electronics stay bone-dry.
Why “Splash-Proof” Actually Matters
We use heavy-duty gaskets and reinforced housing because water and electricity are a terrible mix. But it’s not just about short circuits. Think about this: when a cold drop of rain hits a glowing hot infrared element, it causes a massive thermal shock.**Crack.**That’s how you end up with a shattered quartz tube or a burnt-out unit. Dealing with the Fog
Outdoor heaters live a weird life. One minute they’re scorching hot, the next they’re freezing in the night air. That swing creates condensation. If moisture builds up on the lens or the reflector, your heat doesn’t go where it’s supposed to. It gets scattered. You end up wasting energy and feeling a lukewarm breeze instead of a deep heat. A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Installing these is pretty straightforward, but here’s a tip:**tighten those cable glands.**If the seals aren’t seated perfectly, the IP65 protection doesn’t mean a thing. There is one trade-off, though. Since we’ve locked the unit down to keep the rain out, the heat can’t escape the internal electronics as easily. This means the outer casing gets hotter than you’d find on an open-frame heater. Just make sure you give the unit some breathing room. Check your mounting brackets and leave plenty of clearance so you don’t accidentally scorch your walls or ceiling. It’s a small price to pay for a heater that won’t blow a fuse the moment a storm rolls in.
