There is nothing worse than stepping out of a hot shower and staring at a wall of steam. You can’t see a thing. You end up wiping the mirror with a towel, leaving streaks everywhere. We fixed that. By using infrared (IR) heaters, we can keep your mirror crystal clear and give you a bit of localized warmth while you get ready. The best part? You can hook these right into your smart home setup. You can set a timer or just tap a button on your phone before you even step into the shower.
Heat That Actually Hits
Here is the thing about infrared: it doesn’t waste time trying to warm up the air in the room. Instead, it sends energy straight into the glass and toward you. We use short-wave IR elements because they are fast. Like, really fast. The second you hit “on” in your app, the current hits the filament and the heat starts moving. No waiting around for the mirror to “warm up.” It just happens.
Making it “Smart”
Getting this to play nice with your smart home is pretty straightforward. We wire the heater through a high-load smart switch or a PLC. When you click that button on your screen, you’re just telling a physical relay to close the circuit. Simple. But we also have to be careful. Glass can crack if it gets too hot. To stop that from happening, we tuck in NTC thermistors. These are basically little guards that watch the temperature. If the glass gets too hot, the controller just kills the power. Safe and sound.
A Few Things to Watch Out For
Now, a heads-up on the electrical side. These IR elements pull a lot of power the moment they kick in. If you’re putting several of these in one bathroom, you might trip a standard 15A breaker. You don’t want your lights flickering or your power cutting out halfway through your morning routine. That’s why we usually suggest a dedicated circuit for the heating zones. It just keeps things stable. Also, nobody wants a bulky box hanging off their wall. We use slim-profile relays that hide away behind the mirror housing, so the whole thing looks clean and tucked away.
