It&amp;rsquo;s a headache.&#xA;To fix this, we started putting short-wave infrared (IR) heating lamps right into the transport trolleys.&#xA;Here is the trick: most heaters just warm up the air around the part. IR is different. It shoots &lt;a href=&#34;https://o-yate.net&#34;&gt;energy&lt;/a&gt; straight into the target. It&amp;rsquo;s a simple shift in how the physics work, but it makes a massive difference in how much power we burn.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Cutting the waste&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Standard resistive heaters are basically space heaters. They waste a ton of energy heating the entire room just to get one part warm. We don&amp;rsquo;t want that.&#xA;By using IR, we only heat the load. It&amp;rsquo;s targeted. That means your kilowatt-hour (kWh) numbers per cycle actually start to drop.&#xA;Plus, these lamps ramp up fast. You aren&amp;rsquo;t sitting around for an hour waiting for the heater to hit the right temperature. It takes the pressure off the factory grid. But a word of warning: because they hit so hard, you have to be careful with your PID controllers. If you overshoot the mark, you&amp;rsquo;re looking at thermal shock, and nobody wants that.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Keeping things clean&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;In a fab, a &lt;a href=&#34;https://goldisgood.com&#34;&gt;single&lt;/a&gt; speck of dust is a disaster.&#xA;We use quartz-glass envelopes for the lamps because they don&amp;rsquo;t off-gas or shed particles. To make sure we aren&amp;rsquo;t wasting heat, we wrap them in stainless steel reflectors. It pushes every single photon toward the load instead of letting it bleed out into the cleanroom.&#xA;On the electrical side, we use heavy-duty connectors. These trolleys move. A lot. You can&amp;rsquo;t have a loose wire causing a flicker or burning out a filament halfway through a shift.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The &amp;ldquo;Green&amp;rdquo; side of things&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We talk a lot about &amp;ldquo;Green Factories,&amp;rdquo; but this is where it actually happens.&#xA;When the system only draws power when the target actually needs heat, the carbon footprint shrinks. If there&amp;rsquo;s a microscopic crack in the quartz or a seal that isn&amp;rsquo;t quite right, it’ll arc over right here in our shop.
